InMotion December 2024 Fire Safety Essentials

Fire safety is a critical responsibility for employers across all industries in all Australian States and Territories. Employers must take proactive steps to safeguard not only their workers but also customers and other persons who may be on their premises. This includes managing risks associated with fire hazards, which can arise from the use of flammable materials, hazardous equipment, and general workplace operations.

This InMotion provides an overview of fire safety obligations under the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017 (Model) and the National Construction Code (NCC). Employers are required to develop and implement comprehensive emergency plans, provide and maintain fire protection equipment, instruct team members on emergency response procedures and regularly exercise their emergency response arrangements.
